
Cyclones Fall to Dayton to End 2003-04 Season

The Cyclones dropped a 4-2 decision to the Dayton Bombers on Saturday in Dayton. The loss ends the 2003-04 Cyclones campaign. This year's edition of the Clones finished the year with a 25-43-4 record.

The Cyclones finished their 2003-04 campaign with a 4-2 loss to the Dayton Bombers on Saturday at the Nutter Center in Dayton. The Cyclones fell behind 3-0 in the first and never recovered. Brian Ridolfi, Scott Cameron and Sean Connelly scored in the first for the Bombers to stake Dayton to a 3-0 lead.
After a scoreless second, Phil Lewandowski scored 2:55 into the third to end Andrew Penner's shutout. After a third period Cyclones power play, Dayton's Matt Herneisen hopped out of the penalty box and streaked in on Tyler Masters to salt the game away with his fifth goal of the season. With the Bombers leading 4-1, Tyler Kindle scored his 13th of the season with seven second left in the game to end the scoring at 4-2.
Cyclones to Watch
-Cyclones right winger Mike Henderson set a new career high with 20 goals this season.
-Cyclones defenseman Dean Stork set a new career high for assists with 17.
-Cyclones goaltender Randy Petruk fell one short of his career high for games played. Petruk appeared in 50 contests this season. His career high is 51 games played with the Florida Everblades in 2001-02. Petruk fell 33 minutes short of breaking the Cyclones ECHL franchise record for minutes played by a goaltender in a season. Petruk played 2906 minutes. The franchise record is 2938 set by Brent Belecki during the 1998-99 season with the Cyclones franchise predecessor, the Miami Matadors.
-Alaska Aces winger Garrett Prosofsky finishes the season as the Cyclones leader in goals (22), assists (28) and points (50).
-Phil Lewandowski scored his seventh goal in 13 games with the Cyclones on Saturday in Dayton. Lewandowski finishes his rookie campaign with 19 goals and 18 assists for 37 points in 57 games. In Lewandowski's 13 games as a Clone, he had seven goals and seven assists for 14 points. Lewandowski ended the season on a six-game point streak. That ties Lewandowski with Jade Galbraith and Evan Cheverie for the longest point scoring streak of the year. Lewandowski had four goals and five assists for nine points in his last six games.
-Tyler Kindle's third period marker on Saturday was his first goal as a Cyclone.
-Jeff Worlton recorded an assist on Kindle's goal for his second point of the season.
