Norwich Sea Unicorns News Release
Brooklyn, NY - The Brooklyn Cyclones (27-24) defeated the Connecticut Tigers (27-24) by the score of 4-3 Monday night at MCU Park. RHP Casey Meisner (2-3) led the way for the Cyclones as they took two out of three from the Tigers to pull even with Connecticut in the Wild Card standings. Meisner won his second game of the season as he pitched six strong innings while allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits and struck out six batters.
The Tigers grabbed a great offensive day from SS Joey Pankake (4-4) as he produced a four hit, one RBI performance and fell a homerun shy of the cycle. Pankake kept the Tigers in the game with an RBI single in the eighth inning that kept the deficit to one run at 4-3. CF Ross Kivett (2-4) chipped in with two hits for the Tigers in the loss. Pankake and Kivett combined to go 6-for-8 as the rest of the team was a combined 1-for-26 in the 4-3 loss.
RHP Chase Edwards (4-3) suffered his third loss of the season as he pitched five innings while giving up three runs on six hits. After giving up three runs in the first inning, Edwards settled down to pitch four consecutive scoreless innings. Despite the loss, Edwards pitched well for the Tigers and kept them in the game.
