Cyclones Drop Rubber Game in Wilmington, 4-1

WILMINGTON, DE - The Wilmington Blue Rocks ripped off three first-inning runs to outlast the Brooklyn Cyclones, the High-A affiliate of the New York Mets, 4-1 Sunday afternoon in the series finale at Frawley Stadium.

Win: Romero (1-0) | Loss: Ocampo (0-1)

KEY PLAYS

Carlos Ocampo, the Brooklyn starter, lasted just one-third of an inning, allowing a triple, RBI double, and back-to-back RBI singles to the first four hitters. Jordy Barley tripled, Onix Vega doubled in a run, Yasel Antuna and Israel Pineda added run-scoring singles to make it 3-0 Blue Rocks.

Oscar Rojas tossed 4.0 innings of scoreless relief for the Cyclones, striking out four. Colby Morris and Reyson Santos also chipped in scoreless outings as Brooklyn relievers had to cover 7 2/3 innings.

In the ninth inning, Jaylen Palmer drilled a double to the gap in right-center field, plating JT Schwartz, to break the shutout and make it 4-1.

NEWS AND NOTES

The Cyclones dropped the series, losing two out of three. Brooklyn plays one other scheduled three-game series at Jersey Shore this summer on July 22, 23, and 24.

Rowdey Jordan collected a leadoff single, extending his hitting streak to three games to start the season.

JT Schwartz tallied his first High-A hit, lacing a single in the ninth inning.
