
Cutthroats Shut Out Mallards

Denver - The Denver Cutthroats faced the Quad City Mallards for the third time in one week on Friday, November 15 at the Denver Coliseum. The teams last met on Saturday, November 9 at iWireless Center in Moline, Illinois. The Mallards swept the Cutthroats 2-0-0 for the two-game weekend series. On Friday, the Denver Cutthroats came back to shutout the Quad City Mallards 3-0.
After a scoreless opening period, Denver's Garett Bembridge (A.J. Gale, Troy Schwab) fired a shot just above the elbow of Quad City's Ty Rimmer to give the Cutthroats a 1-0 lead on the power play.
Heading into the third period, Bembridge (Schwab, Gale) doubled the Cutthroats lead with his second goal of the night. On the Cutthroats power play and with less than three minutes to go in regulation, Michael Schumacher (Bembridge, Gale) sealed Denver's lead 3-0 over the Quad City Mallards.
Denver's Kieran Millan returned from the American Hockey League's Lake Erie Monsters to mind the net on Friday night for the Cutthroats. Millan saved 30 of the 30 shots on goal to help the Denver Cutthroats shutout the Quad City Mallards.
The Denver Cutthroats and Quad City Mallards will meet again Saturday, November 16 at the Denver Coliseum. The Cutthroats salute to the military will conclude on Saturday night as Denver's founding partner and official soft drink beverage partner, Pepsi, will be handing out 1,000 megaphones to help fans voice their support for the military.
