Cutters Take Game 1

Victoria, TX - What was set up to be a classic pitcher's duel turned into a defensive challenge as the visiting Cane Cutters from Acadiana, LA, was the beneficiary of 5 Victoria General errors. Ryan May, with an ERA of 1.43 and a record of 2 wins and 1 loss pitched 6 scoreless innings to capture a 7-1 victory.

Kris Looper, coming into this game with an astonishing ERA of 0.59 struggled with his command as the Cain Cutters touched him for 5 runs on 4 hits. Looper is now 2 wins and 2 losses on the season.

Acadiana began the scoring in the 3 rd inning when Connor Barron led off with a single. Left fielder Cameron Dishon placed a sacrifice bunt down the first base line which Generals Pitcher Looper deposited into right field with an errant throw. Third Baseman, Chance Vincent followed with a single into right field netting the first two runs. These became the deciding runs as the Generals registered the only run in the Bottom of the 9 th Inning on a RBI single by Bryce Only.

The Cain Cutters are now 14 wins and 9 losses in the 2 nd Seasonal Half as they picked up another game in the standings in front of the third place Generals.

The Generals will be back in action tomorrow night for game two of the two game series. First pitch is scheduled for a 7:05 start as it's another Speedy Stop Sunday! If the Generals win tomorrow, fans can redeem their ticket for a FREE breakfast or lunch taco at Speedy Stop.
