
Cutters Sweep Capitales with 11-inning 4-3 Victory

West Haven, CT- The New Haven County Cutters (18-9) needed eleven innings for the second time in as many nights to get their Northeast League season leading 10th consecutive victory with a 4-3 series sweeping win over the Quebec Capitales (14-13).
With two outs and runners on the corners in the bottom of the 11th, Tyrone Pendergrass drove a 1-1 Greg Runser offering off the foot of the wall in right field to score Ryan Kane with the game winning run. Pendergrass went 3-for-6 with two RBI and a stolen base in the game.
The lead changed hands three times in the game and eight times in the series. After no errors in the first two games of the series, both teams combined for 8 errors that led to one unearned run.
After Quebec took a two-run lead into the bottom of the eighth, the cutters came up with two runs off of a pair of two out RBI singles by Jimmy Hurst and Hector Lebron. Hurst went 2-for-4 with a double and a walk, while Hector Lebron finished 2-for-3 with a double and two walks.
Northeast League Pitcher of the Week, Tony Harden threw six innings and allowed four hits with five strikeouts. Wes Mindingall went three innings in relief for the win (1-0) and allowed one hit.
Former New Haven Raven, Lance Franks went six innings for the Capitales and allowed one run on three hits. Greg Runser dropped his second game in as many days (1-3) in relief.
John Ballon added a solo homerun for Quebec. Benoit Emond extended his hit streak to 11-games with a single in the tenth inning.
The Cutters have now swept all five series that they have won this season and improve to a perfect 4-0 in extra inning games, all at Yale Field.
The Cutters open up a three-game series against the North Shore Spirit on Friday, June 25th.
