New Jersey Jackals News Release

Little Falls, NJ - The New Haven County Cutters scored three runs off the Jackal bullpen in the seventh and eighth innings en route to a 7-5 over the New Jersey Jackals.

New Jersey took a 2-0 lead in their first set of at-bats. An RBI double by Francisco Leandro, and an RBI single by Marcos Rodriguez accounted for the runs against Trevor Marcotte. Two innings later, the Jackals made it a 4-0 lead on Sandy Madera's 20th homerun of the season, a two run shot.

The Cutters made their early inning push in the third, when they finally broke through against Josh Brey. After two errors, Jeremy Pickrel's single scored one, and Chris Gaskin's single scored a pair. In the fifth, the Cutters tied the game at four. Kevin Whiteside's RBI single helped run Brey from the ballgame.

It took till the top of the seventh for the Jackals to touch up Marcotte again, and it came in the form of a solo homerun by Madera, his second of the ballgame. It gave the Jackals a lead again, but briefly. In the home half of the inning, the Cutters capitalized on New Jersey's unreliable bullpen, as they struck for two runs to steal the lead. Off of Kyle George, Orlando Encarnacion's single tied the game, and Chas Terni's sac fly with the bases loaded gave New Haven a 6-5 lead.

New Haven added a run of insurance in the eighth on Gaskin RBI double.

A 7-5 lead entering the ninth was all New Haven closer Andy Weimer needed, as he pitched a one-hit ninth for his 20th save of the year.

Kyle George suffered the loss, while Trevor Marcotte earned in the win while allowing five earned runs in seven innings of work.
