The New Haven County Cutters survived a close one against New Jersey thanks to some scoring in the late innings, overcoming a great night at the plate by Jackals DH Sandy Madera. New Haven County trailed the Jackals by a run heading into the seventh inning, but took the lead with two in the bottom of the seventh and added an insurance run in the eighth to notch their 25th win of the second half. New Jersey DH Sandy Madera did his best to keep the game close. Madera was 2-for-4 in the game with two home runs and three RBI. Cutters 1B Chris Gaskin had a productive night at the plate as well. He was 2-for-4 with a run scored and three RBI.

Grays 6, Nashua 4

@ Nashua, NH. Time: 3:09 Attendance: 1,257

The Grays held off the Nashua Pride late to improve to 24-22 in the second half. Grays starting pitcher Beau Dannemiller pitched well, allowing three runs on 11 hits and striking out three through seven innings of work to improve to 9-6 on the year. Grays closer Jerry Dunn worked a scoreless ninth to notch his 18th save of the season. The Grays were led at the plate by LF Chad Gabriel who was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Pride LF Bryan Duplissie homered in the game and was 2-for-5. Nashua was led at the plate by DH Jason Crosland who was 3-for-4 with a run scored in the losing effort. Due to the loss by Quebec, Nashua earned a playoff berth.

North Shore 7, Sussex 2

The North Shore Spirit allowed two runs on a Larry Bethea home run in the first inning, but would surrender virtually nothing else the rest of the way en route to the win. Trailing 2-0 heading to the bottom of the first, the Spirit answered with six runs of their own and that proved to be plenty. North Shore starting pitcher Gary Galvez pitched great after the first inning. In all, he allowed two runs on three hits and struck out six without issuing a walk in five innings of work to improve to 7-9 on the year. Four different Spirit hitters recorded two hits in the game, including RF John Welch who was 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Atlantic City 3, Brockton 2

The Atlantic City Surf edged the Brockton Rox by scoring a run in the bottom half of the eighth inning and holding on in the ninth. The starting pitcher from each team pitched very well, but neither factored in the decision. Each allowed two runs on six hits through the games first seven innings. Atlantic City 1B Clyde Williams was 2-for-4 in the game with a solo home run, his 14th of the season. Brockton SS Jorge Mejia led all hitters by going 3-for-4 at the plate in the losing effort.

Worcester 13, Quebec 11

The Worcester Tornadoes came from behind to win a wild one on the road and eliminate the Quebec Capitales from playoff contention. With the loss by Quebec, the Nashua Pride clinched a playoff spot. Trailing 11-8 heading into the ninth inning, the Tornadoes rallied for five runs in the frame and held on in the home half to pull of the stunner. Worcester CF Keith Beauregard led the way at the plate going 2-for-3 with a home run and two runs scored. Quebec out-hit the Tornadoes 17-9, but it wasn't enough. Six different hitters recorded multi-hit games for the Capitales in the losing effort, including DH Pat Scalabrini who was 3-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBI.
