Williamsport Crosscutters News Release
Williamsport used six pitcher to shutout the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, 5-0, in the middle game of the series. The shutout was the second thrown by the Cutters this season. Riley Ornido was the third pitcher used, earning the win. Daniel Harris homered for the first time this season, driving in his first two runs of the season. The Cutters swiped three bases, including Eddie Neimann's theft of home.
Oh, Danny Boy- Daniel Harris had a break out performance at the plate last night, finishing the night 2-for-4 with a Home Run and 2 RBI. Harris' 374-foot shot was the second home run hit by the Cutters at home and the longest thus far. Harris led the Kentucky Wildcats with his .310 average this past season, collecting 63 hits, driving in 28 and posting a .803 OPS.
Welcome To My House- The Crosscutters will wrap up their five-game* home stand this afternoon as they look to sweep the Mahoning Valley Scrappers. Williamsport has won three of four games thus far and has put up some string offensive numbers, collecting 10 extra base hits, including their first two home runs at home. They have outscored their opponents 27-14 and picked up their 2nd shut out of the season.
Mike's Kid, Sal- Sal Fusco is slated to make his first start of the season for the Crosscutters. Fusco has seen action in four games this season, all as a reliever. This past season with the UMass-Lowell River Hawks, Fusco made 20 appearances including two starts. He finished the season with a 1-2 record and a 6.00 ERA. Fusco's longest outing came on May 1st, tossing three innings against the University of Albany.
