
Cutters Fall To Capitales 5-3

West Haven, CT- The New Haven County Cutters returned home to Yale Field with a 5-3 loss to the Quebec Capitales to open up a seven-game home stand in front of 1,636 fans on Thirsty Thursday.
After falling behind in 1-0, the Cutters would take the lead on a two-run homer by reigning Northeast League Batter of the Week Kevin Forbes in the bottom of the second inning. The Cutters would not hold the lead again. Forbes finished the night went 1-for-4 with 3 RBI.
Nick Hiter went 2-for-3 in the loss.
Newly acquired Luke Lambo pitched 1 1/3 innings of relief with three strikeouts in his debut.
Shane Waroff pitched a perfect ninth out of the bullpen.
The top four of the Quebec lineup combined to go 5-for-16 with 4 RBI 3 runs scored and a home run. Geofrey Tomlinson went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI and his first homer of the season.
Jess Turner (2-3) got the win and Alex Santos (12) got the save while Wes Mindingall dropped to 2-4 on the season.
The Cutters have dropped five in a row, which ties the longest drought of the season.
After every Friday night home game this summer, a fireworks show will light up the New Haven sky. 'Win Jonathan Fleisig's Money' is during every Saturday Game at Yale Field where fans can actually win money from the owner of the Cutters for watching and enjoying a night at the ballpark. It will also be 'Maria Conlon Night' with the former UCONN Huskies guard and Derby, CT, native will be in attendance signing autographs. Every Sunday is a WEBE 108 Family FUNday with plenty of entertainment to keep all ages entertained.
