Cutters and Pirates Extend Agreement

Williamsport Crosscutters News Release


The Pittsburgh Pirates and Williamsport Crosscutters announced today the extension of their Player Development Contract through the 2006 campaign.

Crosscutters President Paul Velte stated that, "The Cutters have been extremely pleased with our working relationship with the Pirates organization over the last six years. The Pirates are committed to winning on the minor league level as evidenced by our championships in 2001 and 2003. We value our partnership with them and appreciate the on-field talent they have provided to fans of the Williamsport area."

Pittsburgh Pirates Director of Player Development Brian Graham, commenting on the extension said, "We are happy to be continuing our relationship with the staff and fans of the Williamsport Crosscutters. The Cutters organization is a proven first-class operation and a great affiliate for our young prospects." The Crosscutters began their affiliation with the Pirates in the 1999 season.

The team came in to the 2004 season with a record of 203-172 (.541) as a Pirate affiliate. Currently, the club is 32-37. The Cutters won NY-P Championships in 2001 and 2003.
