(West Haven, CT- July 28, 2004) The New Haven County Cutters and popular tv meteorologist Dr. Mel are teaming up to fight Multiple Myeloma by holding a fundraiser on Saturday, July 31st.

Dr. Mel is planning on being in attendance to sign autographs of his book during the Cutters-Capitales game. Ticket proceeds from that night, through a voucher that is available at all local CVS locations throughout New Haven, will go to Dr. Mel's Multiple Myeloma Fund at the Yale Cancer Center to support local clinical trials for treatment of this disease.

Multiple Myeloma is a severe form of bone cancer that typically results in death 12-24 months from diagnosis. Dr. Mel was first diagnosed seven years ago. As a result of his experience as a survivor, he has devoted his efforts to the local need for improvement of both knowledge and clinical facilites to treat this rare disease at the Yale Cancer Center. The closest clinical trials in treating this disease are currently located in Boston, MA.

The Cutters will return home to open up a seven-game home stand on July 29th with a four-game series against the Quebec Capitales. Thursdays at Yale Field are Thirsty Thursday's with $1 Budweiser and Bud Light draft beers. After every Friday night home game this summer, a fireworks show will light up the New Haven sky. "Win Jonathan Fleisig's Money" is during every Saturday Game at Yale Field where fans can actually win money from the owner of the Cutters for watching and enjoying a night at the ballpark. Every Sunday is a WEBE 108 Family FUNday with plenty of entertainment to keep all ages entertained. Tickets for these games and others are available by calling the Cutters front office, 203-777-5636, or through the team's website, cuttersbaseball.com.
