July 28, 2004 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
North Shore Spirit News Release

Lynn, MA– The North Shore Spirit completed the sweep of the Aces Wednesday night with an 11-2 win at the New Fraser Field.

The Spirit got on the board in the first. After a Nelson Teilon double, Rob Fisher delivered and RBI single to left-center. The Aces were quick to retaliate though, scoring a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning.

North Shore broke the game open in the fourth. Joe Hastings leadoff with a double and advanced to third on a single by Brian Macchi. Onix Mercado would drive home Hastings with an RBI basehit to centerfield. The Spirit would add two more runs in the inning thanks to some shaky Aces defense and a run-scoring single from Teilon. North Shore would tack on an unearned run in the fifth, giving them the 6-1 advantage.

The Spirit extended their lead with three runs in the seventh and two more in the eighth. Teilon continued his big night as he knocked in a pair with a single and Yuri Sanchez picked up an RBI with a groundout.

Ben Knapp (5-3) worked the first six innings to picked up the win. Nelson Teilon finished the game 4-6 with three RBI's. Brian Macchi was 2-4 with three runs scored. The Spirit have now won five games in a row and hold a half game lead over Bangor in the North Division standings. North Shore scored in double-figures for the fourth time in their last five games.

Aaron Dean (3-2) will take the mound for the Spirit in the first of the four game series against the New Jersey Jackals. Thursday's game begins at 7:05 pm, gates open at 5:30 pm.

Tomorrow is Singles Night at the New Fraser Field. The Spirit welcome any and all singles to participate in one of the fastest growing trends in America known as "speed dating". During the game, participating singles will go on half inning dates to try and meet a potential match. Singles night will be a fun-filled night for everyone and hopefully a love connection will be made. Tomorrow is also Community Newspaper Company Night.

You can catch all Spirit games, home and away, on the flagship station of the North Shore Spirit, WESX 1230 AM. All games are also broadcast via the Internet on www.northshorespirit.com.
