Harrisburg Senators News Release

The Harrisburg Senators left eight runners on base, and did not score until the ninth inning, as they dropped game three of their first-round playoff series against the Altoona Curve by a 7-2 final score at Metro Bank Park. The win gives the Curve a 2-1 series advantage, with a chance to close out the best-of-five series on Saturday afternoon. Game four is scheduled for 4 PM at Metro Bank Park.

Justin Wilson (1-0) threw six shutout innings, allowing two hits, and picked up the win for the Curve. He did walk five batters, and struck out seven. Ryan Tatusko (0-1) started for the Senators, allowed three hits in six innings, and took the loss. Altoona outhit the Senators 12-6 in the game, and held the Sens to just one hit through the first five innings. Adam Fox hit a two-run home run in the ninth to prevent the shutout.

The Senators put the first two men on in an inning three separate times, including the bottom of the first. Each time, it was leadoff hitter Stephen Lombardozzi and Josh Johnson reaching base. But each time, both were stranded, and the Senators exited the inning scoreless. In the first, the Senators loaded the bases with two outs, but did not score. The Curve struck first in the third inning, getting four consecutive hits from the top of its order and scoring three runs. Chase d'Arnaud, Josh Harrison, and Jordy Mercer all singled, and Matt Hague cleared the bases with a double. d'Arnaud and Harrison each added solo homers in the seventh to make it 5-0, and then a two-run error by Johnson in the eighth put Altoona up 8-0.

Johnson reached base all four times he came to the plate for the Sens, with three walks and a single. Lombardozzi had two singles and a walk, reaching base three times. The other threehits came from Ofilio Castro, Brad Coon, and Fox. Fox drove in Castro with his two-out homer in the ninth.

Down 2-1 in the series, the Senators put their season on the line in game four, at 4 PM on Saturday afternoon. A win would force a game 5, which would be played at 5 PM on Sunday in Altoona. Saturday's starting pitcher for the Sens is RHP Tanner Roark (1-1, 2.50), while LHP Tony Watson (6-4, 2.67) goes for the Curve. Radio coverage of the game begins at 3:40 PM, on 1460 AM The Ticket and www.senatorsbaseball.com.
