
Curve Explode For 10 Runs in Six-Run Win Over Erie

ALTOONA, PA - All nine Curve starters reached base as Altoona exploded for 10 runs in a 10-4 win over the Erie SeaWolves (AA-Detroit Tigers) in the finale of a three game series Thursday afternoon at Blair County Ballpark.
CF Gorkys Hernandez hit his second home run since joining the Curve, belting a solo shot in the bottom of the first inning. Hernandez finished the day 2-for-4 and extended his hitting streak to six games.
Pirates No. 1 prospect Pedro Alvarez continued his recent surge with a 2-for-3 day hitting a double and scoring three runs. Alvarez is now on a seven game hit streak, a streak that has Alvarez hitting .360 (9x25) with a home run, three doubles, three RBIs and five runs scored.
Miles Durham also stayed hot hitting a three run double in the fifth inning, his fifth extra base hit in his last four games. Catcher Miguel Perez brought home a pair of runs in the fourth inning for Altoona with a single.
Jeff Corsaletti ended an 0-for-18 slump with an RBI double and Jason Delaney raised his team leading RBI total to 39 on a double in a five run fifth inning.
Curve starter Yoslan Herrera (5-0) stayed undefeated in his first start since a back strain had sidelined the Cuban native since 6/19. Herrera tossed 5.0 innings allowing three runs on six hits with five strikeouts.
Altoona (32-55) now goes on the road for a four game weekend series with the Bowie Baysox. The Curve will have RHP Mike Crotta (4-4, 4.98) on the mound and right hander Radhames Liz (3-1, 3.24) gets the start for Bowie. First pitch at Prince George's Stadium is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Friday night with radio coverage starting at 6:50 p.m. on ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and the Curve Radio Network.
Notes: Jim Negrych extended his on-base streak to ten games Corey Hamman has not been scored upon in his last six appearances (7.0 IP) Yoslan Herrera is now undefeated in his last 12 starts dating back to 8/8/08
