Curve Drubbed By R-Phils, 10-3, Sunday Afternoon

READING- The Reading Phillies scored four runs in both the first and third innings and cruised to a 10-3 win over the Altoona Curve Sunday afternoon at FirstEnergy Stadium in Reading.
Reading knocked Curve starter Josh Hill (3-3) out of the game after just one inning, handing the right-hander his third loss of the season. Hill was terrific in a win at Akron earlier in the week, tossing six shutout innings and posting a Curve season-high eight strikeouts, but was touched up for four runs and five hits in the first frame, highlighted by a two-run RBI single off the bat of Jeremy Slayden.
Slayden was one of the R-Phils' offensive stars in the contest, posting three hits and knocking in four runs. Javon Moran followed a 4-for-4 performance on Saturday with a 4-for-5 effort Sunday afternoon.
The R-Phils added four more runs in the third off reliever Christian Castorri, capped by a two-run home run by Brad Harman. The Phillies, who pounded out 15 hits in the contest, counted 11 of those tallies over their first three at-bats.
Altoona managed three runs and nine hits against Reading starter Andrew Carpenter (2-4), who earned his first win since defeating the Curve on April 3rd at Blair County Ballpark.
Two of the Curve three runs scored on solo home runs from Melvin Dorta and Jonel Pacheco. Pacheco's fifth-inning solo shot marked his second consecutive day with a longball and his fifth of the season, moving him to within one of James Boone's club lead of six.
Catcher Kris Watts, who went 2-for-4 in the game, knocked in the Curve's second run of the game in the fourth inning with an RBI double which scored Brad Corley. Jason Delaney failed to reach base safely in four plate appearances, halting his on-base streak at 22 games.
The loss drops the Curve to 2-5 over the first seven games of their current eight-game road trip and to 14-22 overall. Reading, which had lost four of its last five entering Sunday, improves to 16-19.
The two clubs will complete their four-game series, and Altoona will conclude its eight-game road swing, Monday morning at FirstEnergy Stadium with a 9:35 a.m. first pitch. Left-hander Corey Hamman (0-5, 5.03) is scheduled to make the start against former Curve All-Star and Pittsburgh Pirates' left-hander Shane Youman (0-1, 9.68).
The Curve will return to Blair County Ballpark Tuesday for a brief three-day homestand against the Akron Aeros.
