Cubs Pitching Prospect to Make Start Today

GENEVA, Ill. - The Kane County Cougars, in conjunction with the Chicago Cubs have announced that pitcher Duane Underwood has joined the Cougars from the Cubs' spring training complex in Arizona while pitcher Scott Frazier has been transferred to Arizona. Underwood is active and scheduled to start this afternoon's 1 p.m. game between the Cougars and Lake County Captains at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark. Tickets for today's game are available by calling (630) 232-8811 or ordering online at kccougars.com. Today's roster move maintains the Midwest League mandate of 25 active players.

Underwood (2nd round, 2012) was ranked the 17th-best prospect in the Cubs' farm system entering last season according to Baseball America. The right-hander went 3-4 with a 4.97 ERA at Short-A Boise in 2013. Underwood is one of three 19-year olds on the roster, joining fellow starting pitcher Jen-Ho Tseng and infielder Carlos Penalver.
