Salt Lake put up six runs in the final three innings to power past the Iowa Cubs,8-5, Thursday afternoon in front of 9,669 fans at Principal Park. Jay Jackson, making his first start since returning to Iowa's starting rotation, received a no decision. Jackson surrendered two runs and four hits over four innings. He struck out five and walked one.

Trailing 3-2 in the top of the seventh, the Bees put up three runs off Cubs reliever Justin Berg (0-1, 10.38) who took the loss. After the first two batters of the inning reached base, Gary Patchett laid down a sacrifice bunt to move the runners over to second and third with one out. Peter Bourjos followed with a two-RBI triple and scored himself one batter later on Nate Sutton's RBI-single.

Iowa mustered a rally of their own in the bottom half of the seventh after Chris Robinson and manager Ryne Sandberg were both ejected by home plate umpire John Brammer. With one out, Jim Adduci singled and moved into scoring position by stealing second and scored on Matt Camp's RBI-triple. Bees' reliever Brian Stokes then walked both Sam Fuld and Bobby Scales to load the bases, but Chad Tracy grounded into a double play to thwart the Cubs' rally.

The Cubs managed to come back to within one run off Salt Lake again with Brad Snyder's solo home run in the bottom of the eighth to make it 6-5. However, Salt Lake added a couple of insurance runs in the top of the ninth to seal the game at 8-5.

RH Sean O'Sullivan (5-4, 5.12) picked up the win for the Bees, giving up three runs (two earned) over six innings. Bees' reliever Bobby Cassevah picked up his second save of the season.

Iowa will start an eight-game road trip Friday night in Nashville. After four games with the Sounds, the Cubs will face Round Rock in a four-game set. Friday's pitching matchup will see a pair of southpaws in J.R. Mathes (4-4, 5.40) and Chris Capuano (1-1, 2.14). First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m.
