New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release

WALKING WOUNDED - New Orleans has made several roster moves since last taking the field. Infielders Emilio Bonifacio and Ryan Klosterman have been placed on the disabled list, along with outfielder Lorenzo Scott, the latter two each with left thumb injuries.

GOING... - Relief pitchers Taylor Tankersley and Jay Buente have been promoted to the Florida Marlins, along with infielder Mike Lamb. Tankersley is headed to the majors for the first time since July 27, 2008; he missed all of 2009 with a stress fracture in his left elbow, but was limiting left-handed batters to a .143 average and had a 0.93 ERA in 10 games in May. Buente is getting his first call-up to the big leagues after recording a 3.18 ERA in 54 games with the Zephyrs over the last two seasons. Lamb is returning for his second stint this season with the Marlins; he went 4x18 (.222) in 18 games in April.

AND COMING... - Outfielder Bryan Petersen is returning to New Orleans after going 1x16 with the Marlins in his first major league look. Petersen was leading the Z's with a .290 batting average at the time of his promotion. The Z's are also adding outfielders Hunter Mense from Class AA Jacksonville and Kevin Mattison from Class A Jupiter. Mense went 2x13 in six games with the Z's in April, and was 5x10 in seven games since joining the Suns. Mattison was hitting .233 in 34 games with the Hammerheads. Additionally, the Zephyrs are getting reliever Todd Doolittle from Jacksonville, where he was 2-1 with a 3.36 ERA in 16 games, and infielder Javier Guzman, who was hitting a combined .192 (10x52) in 10 games each at Jupiter and Jacksonville.
