CT Native Milone Leads Renegades to Victory

Hudson Valley, NY - The Hudson Valley Renegades (37-37) defeated the Connecticut Tigers (33-41) by a score of 5-1 Tuesday night at Dutchess Stadium. CF Thomas Milone (1-2) of Monroe, CT provided the spark for the Renegades in his first game with the team. Milone hit what turned out to be the game winning solo home run that lead off the sixth inning and gave the Renegades a 2-1 lead. It was Milone's first professional home run of his career.

For the second night in a row the Renegades pitching shutdown the Tigers offense who managed to get only two hits off of the Renegades pitching Tuesday night. Starter RHP Jaimie Schultz picked up a no decision in the game and pitched well during his three innings of work. Schultz gave up one run that came on a wild pitch in the first inning that scored LF Kasey Coffman (0-2). RHP Colton Reavis (3-1) picked up the win in relief of Schultz and RHP Brad Schreiber combined to pitch six scoreless innings while giving up one hit.

In the sixth inning the Renegades had back to back home runs. Milone led off the inning with his home run and 2B Ariel Soriano (2-4) followed with his sixth home run of the season that gave the Renegades a 3-1 lead. Soriano had a game-tying RBI double in the fourth inning and ended the night with two RBI's giving him 30 on the season. LF Granden Goetzman (2-3) chipped in with a pair of hits including an RBI single in the sixth that scored DH Tyler Young (1-4) to take a 4-1 lead. 1B John Alexander (1-4) hit his first home run of the season in the seventh inning to put the Renegades well out in front at 5-1.

The 2013 New York-Penn League comes to a close as the Tigers and the Renegades wrap up their three-game series tomorrow night at 6:35 p.m.
