(Avista Stadium - Spokane, WA) - RHP Adam Kloffenstein, RHP Luis Quinones and RHP Gage Burland combined on a two-hit shutout as the Canadians closed out a three-game series in Spokane with a convinving 6-0 victory that moved them into a tie atop the North Division.
Kloffenstein went five innings allowing both Indians hits while striking out seven to pick up his third consecutive win (3-2) while RHP Luis Quinones was outstanding over his three innings. The Arecibo, PR native did not allow a hit or a walk while striking out four before handing the ball to RHP Gage Burland who got 1B Jonah McReynolds to ground into a game-ending double play securing the Vancouver victory.
Offensively, the Canadians were led by C Brett Wright who went 2-for-4 and CF Cameron Eden who had the winning base hit when his double in the top of the second inning scored RF Will Robertson (walk) giving Vancouver a 1-0 lead.
Spokane pitching scuffled allowing nine walks in addition to seven Canadians hits and three errors to boot. The result was Vancouver improving to 3-3 (.500) while Spokane fell to 3-3 (.500). The Canadians are 6-6 (.500) vs. Spokane in 12 head-to-head meetings and 3-3 (.500) at Avista Stadium in 2019.
Vancouver now heads to Boise, Idaho to open up a four-game series at Memorial Stadium against the Hawks (3-3) with the first pitch set for 6:15pm (PST). The Canadians will send RHP Gabriel Ponce (0-1, 4.26) to the mound in the series opener that can be heard live on Sportsnet 650.
