CS Lanaudière-Nord Joins CF Montréal's Scouting and Development Centre
September 27, 2023 - Major League Soccer (MLS) - Club de Foot Montreal News Release
MONTREAL - As part of its Scouting and Development Centre (CIP), CF Montréal announced on Wednesday the addition of its newest partner club, CS Lanaudière-Nord.
CS Lanaudière-Nord becomes the first amateur club from the Lanaudière region to join CF Montréal's CIP. The club was created in 2019 following the merger of L'Assomption and Soccer Association Laser.
"It is with great excitement that we welcome CS Lanaudière-Nord as our new partner club, our first from Lanaudière regional soccer association," said Academy Director Marinos Papageorgopoulos. "CS Lanaudière-Nord is a club that was recently formed but well-established, and we're excited to help them grow and start working with them in the region."
"This partnership with CF Montréal will offer our members, players and technical staff unique development opportunities, competition opportunities, increased media visibility and many other benefits. We remain true to our identity as an amateur club while reaping the benefits of this collaboration," said CS Lanaudière-Nord's president, Souhaiel Abdelkader.
CF Montréal now has eight CIP partner clubs as part of its network: FC Laval, AS Brossard, CS St-Lazare Hudson, FC Loro, Soccer Pointe-Claire, CS Montréal Centre, CS Trident and CS Lanaudière-Nord.
As CF Montréal has sought to establish a more sustained collaboration plan with its partners, the Scouting and Development program was revised in 2021. This new consultative partnership formula allows participating clubs like CS Lanaudière-Nord to take full advantage of the Club's resources, both at the technical and administrative levels, including weekly on-site visits. Partner clubs also have exclusive access to CF Montréal activities and initiatives such as tournaments, camps, and technical competitions.
Launched on July 2, 2019, the Scouting and Development Centre is a high-performance development and identification program developed by the Club's Academy and its educators. The initiative includes visits with partner clubs and is part of a broader desire to share the Academy's knowledge, training, and methodologies in order to strengthen ties with the Quebec soccer community.
