C's draws to within three of division leading Everett after 8-7 extra inning win

(Avista Stadium - Spokane, WA) - In a game that had six lead changes and went into extra innings, Vancouver took game one of a key doubleheader when pinch-hitter Juan Kelly smacked a single to right field scoring Ryan Metzler to give the Canadians an 8-7 victory on Friday night.

The Canadians managed 13 hits in the opener with 2B Ryan Metzler going 3-for-4 with three runs scored with CF Rolando Segovia also going 3-for-4 with a triple and run scored in the win. Surrey, B.C. native 1B Justin Atkinson and Toronto, ON born LF Connor Panas also had multi-hit nights for the C's in Game One of the extra inning double header.

LHP Tayler Saucedo went four innings allowing a season-high 10 hits allowing six earned runs (also a season-high) after going 12 scoreless innings in his previous two outings against Spokane. Canadians closer RHP Andrew Case blew his 3rd save of the season, but was bailed out by the lone run of the 10th inning. Vancouver reliever LHP Turner Lee pitched two hitless innings to improve to 2-1 on the summer.

With the victory, Vancouver moves back to within three games of Everett while the Indians fall six games off the pace in the North Division with nine games remaining in the second half of the Northwest League season.

Game two of the Friday night double header is set for 9:10pm out at Avista Stadium with Canadians starter RHP Francisco Rios (2-5) getting the ball in the nightcap.
