C's Bo Schultz Named NWL Pitcher of the Week

(Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, BC) - After putting together three scoreless outings, Vancouver Canadians RHP Bo Schultz has been named Pitcher of the Week by the Northwest League for the week of August 31st through September 7th.

Schultz was summoned out of the Canadians bullpen on three occasions, all against the Everett Aquasox and went six innings, scattering just three hits, walking one while striking out ten. The native of Dallas, Texas would finish up his season with eight scoreless outings dating back to August 10th, 2009.

With the naming of Schultz as Northwest League Pitcher of the Week, this becomes the second straight award for a Vancouver Canadians pitcher as RHP Dan Straily was honoured with the same accolade for the week of August 23rd through 30th.

Signed as a Non-Drafted Free Agent (2009)

Schultz was signed as a non-drafted free agent after he was passed over in this years Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft. With scouts uncertain of how he would project, the Oakland Athletics signed him and proceeded to change Bo Schultz's pitching delivery from a standard pitcher to that of a sidearm pitcher. The transformation ended of making Schultz one of the most feared pitchers in the Northwest League.
