ST. JOHN'S, NEWFOUNDLAND - Matt Taormina and Jeremy Morin each scored twice as the Syracuse Crunch blew past the St. John's IceCaps, 6-2, tonight at the Mile One Centre.

Taormina led the Crunch with a three-point performance, while five other players recorded a multi-point game. Morin notched two goals, Mike Halmo and Joel Vermin tallied a goal and an assist each and Tanner Richard and Cory Conacher each earned two helpers. The win puts the Crunch on a three-game streak and advances the team to 11-5-0-1.

Adam Wilcox earned the win with 20 saves in net for the Crunch. Charlie Lindgren stopped 24-of-30 between the pipes for the IceCaps. Syracuse was able to convert on 2-of-8 man-advantages and killed 2-of-4 St. John's power play opportunities.

The Crunch were first to strike just 43 seconds into the game. Yanni Gourde carried the puck out of the corner along the left wing boards before dishing a pass out for Taormina to net from the top of the right circle. Halmo earned the secondary helper. Six minutes later, the Crunch doubled the lead. Richard threw the puck on net from a wide angle. The shot was blocked, but the rebound kicked out for Morin to chip in.

Halfway through the first period, the IceCaps cut the lead to one while on the power play. Julien Brouillette sniped one from the left circle with the help of Joel Hanley and Jacob de la Rose.

With 4:12 remaining in the opening period, Morin netted his second of the game to regain a two-goal lead. The winger tipped Vermin's shot from the slot. Richard was credited with the secondary helper.

Just 2:44 into the second period, Taormina fired a slap shot from the high slot for his second of the night. Conacher tallied the sole assist on the power-play marker.

The IceCaps responded and cut the lead in half with 10 seconds remaining in the middle frame. While on the man-advantage, Max Friberg beat Wilcox from the circle off assist from Hanley and de la Rose.

Syracuse added two more goals in the third period to take the first win in an eight-game season series against St. John's. At the 11:55 mark, Conacher threw a perfect cross-slot feed for Vermin to score backdoor on the man-advantage. Taormina recorded his third point of the night with the helper. With 4:09 remaining in the contest, Halmo went coast to coast and rung the puck off the post and in.

The Crunch and IceCaps will rematch tomorrow at 6 p.m. ET.
