HIGHLIGHTS: The Williamsport Crosscutters kept their franchise-best winning streak alive Sunday night with a 7-6 win in Oneonta. The Cutters led 7-2 after 7 innings but allowed the Tigers to claw back with two runs in the eighth and two more in the ninth. After allowing two 9th inning runs, Williamsport reliever Justin Vaclavik struck out the last two Oneonta batters to seal the win and his 3rd save of the season.
Cutters starter Todd Redmond (1-0) picked up his first win of the year. He has pitched brilliantly all season with a 1.51 ERA but had been unable to garner a decision. Williamsport blew the game open early with a run in the first and a big six-run tally in the third capped by 3B Euvi Solano's grand slam home run. Solano ended the game 3-for-4 with 4 RBI.
The win was the Cutters 12th in a row. Williamsport remains in 2nd place in the McNamara Division, one game behind Staten Island. The Cutters travel to Mahoning Valley to begin a 3-game series against the Scrappers Monday night.
