Cross, Needham Called Up

Kamloops, BC - The Kamloops Blazers have called up 15-year-old forward Matthew Needham and 16-year-old defenseman Landon Cross. They will both join the team in Vancouver on Boxing Day and are expected play December 27th against the Giants.

Needham has played 2 games this season with the Blazers and scored his 1st WHL goal on November 23rd versus the Regina Pats. He has 26 points in 22 games with the Okanagan Midget Prep Team. He was selected in the 1st round of the WHL Bantam Draft this past April.

Cross will make his Blazers debut following the Christmas break after getting into a few exhibition games. He is playing for the Midget AAA Brandon Wheat Kings and has 14 points in 26 games. The 6'1" defenseman was selected in the 3rd round of the 2009 WHL Bantam Draft by the Blazers.

In other news, Aspen Sterzer is returning to his Midget team after another stint with the Blazers. He has played 7 games with the hockey club over the first half of the season.

The Blazers will be without forwards Bernhard Keil and Dalibor Bortnak due to the World Junior Championships in Buffalo. They will also be missing a pair of 16-year-olds Brady Gaudet and Logan McVeigh who are both playing for Team West at the U-16 Championships in Winnipeg.

The Kamloops Blazers current roster now sits at 24 players including 14 forwards, 8 defensemen, and 2 goaltenders.
