Worcester Tornadoes News Release
LITTLE FALLS, NJ--- Alex Pena (2-3) dropped his third decision in a row, two of those against the Jackals, as Worcester could not overcome two unearned runs. The New Jersey Jackals took game four 5-3. Garrett Olson walked and scored on an RBI single from Chris Colabello in the first to get things rolling for Worcester, who quickly had that lead erased in the second half of that frame. Pena had a tough first again, allowing three of the first four Jackal hitters to score. He settled in after that brief lapse and did not allow another earned run. Alex Trezza cut into the 3-1 lead with a solo shot to lead off the third inning; his team leading fifth of the year. Nick Salotti followed up with a double and eventually came home to tie the game when second basemen Jeff LaHair singled with one away. The score stayed tied at three until the bottom of the sixth. Alex Pena was working around two singles with two strikeouts, and thought he was out of the inning when designated hitter Quentin David rolled one to first. The ground ball found daylight under the glove of Chris Colabello, getting his first start of 2009 at first base and Matt Lauderdale, off on the crack of the bat, crossed the plate with the eventual winning run. The fifth and final Jackal run scored on a passed ball also in the sixth.
Ted Serro (4-2) gets the victory tossing two in his first relief appearance and Rusty Tucker picked up his compiled his ninth save with a perfect ninth.
Game five tomorrow will be the rubber match of the series now tied at two games a side. A pair of lefties will take the rock for their respective skippers, Zack Zuercher for Worcester and AJ Wideman for NJ. First pitch at 2:05, pre-game at 1:50 on WTAG.
