Columbus Crew SC News Release
COLUMBUS, Ohio - Columbus Crew Stadium is receiving a new natural playing surface for the first time in its nearly eight-year history. Removal of the facility's original turf began on Sunday, under the supervision of Director of Stadium Grounds Matt Williams, who is overseeing the project. The new sod, a three-way Kentucky Bluegrass blend being trucked in from Tuckahoe, N.J., is scheduled to be laid between Wednesday and Friday (Nov. 17). Crew Stadium was built between August of 1998 and May of 1999 and, over the years, wear and tear has occasionally necessitated that smaller, specific portions of the field be resodded, but this marks the first time that the field is being replaced in its entirety. Media is welcome at the site, to observe and report on the resodding project.
CREW CAPS SEASON WITH 2-0 WIN OVER CSD MUNICIPAL OF GUATEMALA
The Crew brought down the curtain on its 2006 season Wednesday (Nov. 8) with a 2-0 victory over CSD Municipal, Guatemala's most successful and popular club. Ned Grabavoy and Kei Kamara scored goals on either side of halftime, while Andy Gruenebaum and Noah Palmer shared the shutout in goal, as the Crew improved to 7-1-2 all-time in international exhibitions. A total of 20 players saw action for the Crew, while Mario Rodriguez, who spent the 2005 season in Columbus, returned to Crew Stadium with Municipal and played the full 90 minutes. The game brought an end to the Crew's postseason training camp and the team will now be off until mid-January.
OHSAA SOCCER FINALS DRAW 9,042 TO CREW STADIUM

Another 3,106 turned out later that evening for the Boys Division I match-up.
SCHROEDER PROMOTED TO VP OF CORPORATE SALES & BROADCASTING
Chad Schroeder, the Crew's chief corporate partnerships officer since 2004, has been promoted to Vice President of Corporate Sales & Broadcasting. Schroeder has been with the organization since 2002 and his growth with the company has also seen him assume responsibility for Crew Stadium premium hospitality sales. He started adding broadcasting duties to his portfolio in 2005 and will now oversee all aspects of the club's local TV and radio broadcasts, while also liaising with national broadcast partners.
