COLUMBUS, Ohio (Thursday, April 29) — For one game only as part of Columbus Crew Stadium's Fifth Anniversary Celebration, The Crew will auction off the actual game-worn commemorative jerseys from the May 15 match. All the proceeds from the jerseys will go to the Columbus Crew Foundation, benefiting the Crew's Kicks For Kids Program.

The Crew will celebrate the Fifth Anniversary of Columbus Crew Stadium on Saturday, May 15, 2004 when the Black & Gold take on the New England Revolution at 4 p.m. in a game televised live nationally on ESPN2.

Crew Stadium, the first Major League Stadium built specifically soccer in the United States, opened on May 15, 1999 when The Crew downed the New England Revolution 2-0 before a standing-room only crowd of 24,741. The opening of Crew Stadium was a signature event for soccer in the U.S. and has helped spawn continued soccer-specific stadium growth in MLS.

The special commemorative kits will be all black with white trim and will feature the Crew Stadium Fifth Anniversary logo. The silent auction will take place on the Crew Kicker Plaza until the end of halftime. The minimum bid will be $150 and will be done in $25 increments. Fans will be able to bid on a specific player's jersey, with the highest bidder for each getting their jersey. After the game, the winning bidders will have the opportunity to get their jerseys and autographs from the players. Fans must be present to participate and win. Fans may use cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express to pay.

"This is a neat and unique way to not only showcase our May 15 game, but to give back to a good cause." said Crew President and General Manager Jim Smith. "Our Kicks For Kids program allows youth from Central Ohio an opportunity to attend Crew games that they otherwise wouldn't have."
