Columbus Crew SC News Release
COLUMBUS - Following the Columbus Crew's home match against Orlando City SC on Saturday, May 13 [7:30 p.m. ET / MLS Season Pass on Apple TV / 97.1 The Fan (English); La Mega 103.1 FM (Spanish)], the Crew, in partnership with The On Our Sleeves Movement For Children's Mental Health created by Nationwide Children's Hospital, will illuminate the skies with Central Ohio's largest-ever drone show to raise awareness of the importance of children's mental health. Next week's On Our Sleeves themed game is presented by Nationwide Children's Hospital, the Official Pediatric Mental Health Cause of the Columbus Crew, and will feature various matchday elements promoting the overall well-being of youth throughout the area and state.
The 10-minute post-match entertainment will encompass more than 250 drones displaying intricate designs depicting the club's history, supporters and commitment to Ohio youth through youth soccer and education efforts, as well as how those focuses align with On Our Sleeves' mission. The club's first-ever drone showcase is produced by Sky Elements, an aerial entertainment group that delivers captivating performances that immerse audiences with artistic technology-driven spectacles.
"The Crew are passionate about supporting Central Ohio youth through our year-round programs focused on soccer and educational engagement, which ultimately benefit the physical and mental health of the next generation and future of Columbus," said President of Business Operations Kristin Bernert. "Nationwide Children's Hospital is a true leader in this space with On Our Sleeves, and we have a unique opportunity to emphasize this important topic in a MASSIVE way with an unforgettable show at Lower.com Field next week."
"We are very excited to be teaming up with the Columbus Crew for the match benefitting The On Our Sleeves Movement for Children's Mental Health," said Steve Testa, President of Nationwide Children's Hospital Foundation. "This game celebrates the proud partnership between the Crew and On Our Sleeves to break stigmas and raise money to help create expert-developed children's mental health resources for parents, teachers and coaches. We are grateful to the Crew, their fans, corporate partners like Nationwide and the community for supporting On Our Sleeves."
The Crew and On Our Sleeves will share information during the entire matchday experience to promote awareness and spotlight how parents, guardians and community members can support youth's mental health. More details will be shared at a later date.
Throughout Mental Health Awareness Month in May, On Our Sleeves will highlight the importance of starting conversations that promote mental health and wellness. The organization's mission is to give free expert-created resources to all U.S. communities so everyone can understand and promote mental health for children.
