
Crew hosts Universidad Catolica (Chile) on Saturday

COLUMBUS, Ohio (Tuesday, May 31) â The Crew will take a break from MLS action this weekend when they host Universidad Católica (Chile) on Saturday, June 4, at 7:30 p.m. at Crew Stadium. The game against Católica marks the first time The Crew has taken on a team from South America.
The game is a part of Crew Soccer Nation ticket packages for all Gold Level members (full season packages) and some Black Level members (Half-Pack A). It is marked "Special Game A" in their season ticket booklets.
Tickets for this international match are priced the same as Crew single-game tickets ($35 club seats; $22 midfield advance/$24 day of game; $20 corners advance/$22 day of game; $16 endlines advance/$18 day of game). Tickets can be acquired at the Crew Stadium Box Office, at any area Ticketmaster outlet, via phone at 614-431-3600 or on line at TheCrew.com.
The game in Columbus is part of a two-game tour for Católica in the United States. They will also play at Real Salt Lake on June 8 (7:30 p.m. local time). Católica is currently in first place in the Chilean First Division with a 14-3-2 record, outscoring its opponents 39-13. It leads Universidad de Chile by five points. Católica is the former club of MetroStars goalkeeper Jonny Walker, and is coached by Jorge Alberto Pellicer Barcelo. Católica is based in Santiago, Chile, and was founded in 1937.

HEJDUK CALLED INTO U.S. NATIONAL TEAM CAMP FOR WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS
The Crew's Frankie Hejduk has been called into U.S. National Team camp in preparation for U.S. World Cup Qualifying matches on June 4 and June 8. The U.S. faces Costa Rica on Saturday, June 4, at 7:30 p.m. (ET) at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City, Utah, and then travels to Panama City, Panama, to take on Panama on Wednesday, June 8, at 9:30 p.m. (ET).
After three World Cup Qualifying matches in final round qualifying for the 2006 FIFA World Cup, the U.S. sits in second place with six points. Mexico leads the six-team group with seven points. The USA, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama and Trinidad & Tobago are competing for three automatic berths to the World Cup finals in Germany. The fourth-place finisher will face the fifth-place team from the Asian Football Confederation in a home-and-home series to determine the last entrant into the tournament. Columbus Crew Stadium will be the site for the U.S.-Mexico World Cup Qualifying match on Saturday, Sept. 3, at 7:30 p.m. (ET). That game will be shown live on ESPN Classic and Telemundo. Ticketing details will be announced at a later date, but Crew Soccer Nation members will receive a priority offer to purchase tickets before they go on sale to the general public.
U.S.-COSTA RICA WORLD CUP QUALIFIER TO BE SHOWN IN ITS ENTIRETY ON TAPE DELAY
ON SATURDAY NIGHT AT CREW STADIUM AFTER THE CREW-CATÃLICA MATCH
The Crew will be hosting a viewing party on Saturday, June 4, for the U.S.-Costa Rica World Cup Qualifying match. The U.S.-Costa Rica match is being televised live on ESPN2 at 7:30 p.m., but Crew Stadium will show the game in its entirety in the Huntington Club starting at approximately 9:30 p.m. at the conclusion of The Crew's international game vs. Universidad Católica (Chile) at 7:30 p.m. that evening. The tape delayed start of the U.S. game allows fans the opportunity to see both games without having to choose between the two.
RODRIGUEZ JOINS GUATEMALA FOR WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS
Crew midfielder Mario "El Loco" Rodriguez will miss this weekend's match vs. Catolica after being called into Guatemalan National Team camp for World Cup Qualifiers on June 4 and June 8. Guatemala faces Mexico on June 4 in Guatemala, and then heads to San Jose, Costa Rica, to take on Costa Rica on June 8.
SZETELA DEPARTS FOR HOLLAND ON WEDNESDAY, JUNE 1, FOR WORLD YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIPS
United States Under-20 Men's National Team head coach Sigi Schmid has named Crew midfielder Danny Szetela to his final 21-man roster that will represent the U.S. at the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship from June 10-July 2 in Holland. The naming of the roster culminates almost two years of preparation for the U.S. players, which make up a talented and formidable mix of professional, college and high school standouts.
The team will travel to Holland on Wednesday, June 1, and conduct a week-and-a-half of training before the tournament. The team is scheduled to play a friendly against the China Under-20 Men's National Team on June 5.
The U.S. Under-20s were drawn into the difficult Group D with Argentina, Germany and Egypt. The U.S. will open the World Youth Championship against Argentina on June 11 at 5:30 p.m. local time/ 11:30 a.m. ET, before facing Germany on June 14 (8:30 p.m. local time/ 2:30 p.m. ET) and concluding group play on June 18 (1:30 p.m. local time/ 7:30 a.m. ET) against Egypt. The U.S. will play all three of their first round games at the 13,500-seat Arke Stadium in Enschede, Holland. Szetela will be gone at least through June 18 and will return after the U.S. completes its tournament. Crew assistant coach Mike Lapper is also assisting the U.S. Team.
GALLARDO JOINS PANAMA FOR WORLD YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIPS
Crew midfielder Luis Gallardo has returned to Panama to begin preparations for the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship from June 10-July 2 in Holland. Like Szetela, Gallardo will be gone at least through June 17 and will return after Panama completes its tournament. Panama will face Ukraine (June 11), Turkey (June 14) and China (June 17) in group play.
CREW RESERVES DOWN METROSTARS RESERVES 1-0 ON SUNDAY, NEXT RESERVE GAME IS JUNE 11
The Columbus Crew reserves downed the MetroStars reserves 1-0 on Sunday, May 29, at Obetz. The Crew reserves are now 3-0-1 on the year. The majority of the Crew reserve games will be at Obetz unless noted. The MLS All-Stars will face Brian McBride and English Premier League club Fulham FC in the 2005 Sierra Mist MLS All-Star Game to be played on Saturday, July 30, in Crew Stadium (ABC Sports at 3:30 p.m. ET).
