Club Deportivo Chivas USA News Release

CARSON, Calif. (Tuesday, May 31, 2005) - Club Deportivo Chivas USA is proud to announce 'Foster Care Awareness Night'. On Wednesday, June 1, Chivas USA will be honoring the foster care system by inviting children from 10 local foster care organizations to Chivas USA's home match versus the Kansas City Wizards, to be held at 7:30 p.m. PT at The Home Depot Center.

Foster Care Awareness Night was the idea of Chivas USA defender-midfielder Aarón López. As a youth, López spent his childhood in the foster care system; now that he has attained his dream of becoming a professional soccer player, López wants to give back to the organizations that helped him develop.

For most of the foster children in attendance, Wednesday night's match will be the first time they have attended a soccer match and, as such, they will treated to a night of excitement and honor.

Each child will be invited to the match courtesy of the Fundación Chivas de Corazón and its sponsors, and children from several organizations will have an opportunity to meet López after the match. Each of the organizations will be highlighted on the stadium's Diamond Vision board throughout the game to honor their commitment to the community and to foster children.
