Clearwater Threshers News Release
CLEARWATER, Fla. - JP Crawford finished 0-for-3 in the first game of a rehab assignment in Clearwater, and the Threshers dropped game one of the three-game set against the Fort Myers Mircle, 8-1 at Spectrum Field on Tuesday night.
Crawford played five innings at shortstop, as the 23-year-old works his way back from a right forearm strain. Crawford was placed on the Phillies disabled list on April 29.
Mickey Moniak finished 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, just missing his first homer of the year after rocketing a liner off the top of the right-field wall in the sixth inning.
Jimmy Kerrigan put the Miracle up quickly with a leadoff home run off the batter's eye in the top of the first, his fifth homer of the season.
Clearwater (19-28) drew even in the home half, after Adam Haseley ripped a one-out triple off the wall in center. Austin Listi's grounder to third plated Haseley, evening the game up at one apiece.
Fort Myers broke ahead with a five-spot in the third.
The Miracle (19-28) rallied for five runs on five hits in the inning, capped by a Shane Carrier two-run home run. Falter had previously not allowed more than four runs in a start all season.
Minnesota Twins rehabbing righty Ervin Santana worked 3.1 innings in the start, permitting a run on two hits and a walk while striking out three. The two-time American League All-Star, who is working his way back from finger surgery, threw 59 pitches, 33 strikes.
The Miracle added two more in the sixth inning, facing reliever McKenzie Mills. Jaylin Davis led off with his fourth home run of the season, and with two down, Joe Cronin lined a solo shot to left to extend the Fort Myers lead to 8-1.
Alberto Tirado worked a perfect eighth inning, and Will Hibbs set the side down in order in the ninth.
Game two is set for a noon first pitch on Wednesday, when Connor Seabold takes the hill against Brady Anderson. The game will be broadcast live on threshersbaseball.com beginning at 11:45 a.m.
