Crawdads Comeback to Defeat Greensboro 10-8

Hickory, NC - The Crawdads offense stayed hot and defeated the Greensboro Grasshoppers 10-8. The 'Dads are on a three-game win streak in which they have scored 31 runs.

The Grasshoppers got on the board early with a run in the first inning.

The 'Dads quickly responded and tied the game in the bottom half of the inning. Jonathan Ornelas walked and advanced to second on a single by Curtis Terry. Sherten Apostel singled to center to bring in Ornelas.

Greensboro added two runs in the third and one in the fourth to take a 4-1 lead.

In the fifth inning, the Crawdads erased the Grasshoppers' three-run lead. Sherten Apostel singled and Melvin Novoa walked to start a two-out rally. Pedro Gonzalez crushed a ball to right field to tie the game.

The Crawdads broke out for six runs in the sixth to make the score 10-4. Tyler Depreta-Johnson walked to lead off the inning. He advanced to second on a ground out by Ornelas. Aparicio reached on a fielding error that also allowed Depreta-Johnson to score. Aparicio stole second base and took third on a throwing error. Terry singled Aparicio in for the inning's second run. Sherten Apostel followed up with another single that advanced Terry to third. Gonzalez hit his second homerun of the game to give the 'Dads a 9-4. Matt Whatley kept things going with a single and took second on a balk. Frainyer Chavez capped off the scoring for the inning with a single.

The Grasshoppers scored a run in the seventh and three in the ninth but the 'Dads held on to win 10-8.

Game three is set for tomorrow night at 6:30pm. It is Make a Difference Monday presented by Catawba Shoe Store. Fans who bring in new closed toe shoes to donate for Samaritan's Feet will receive two free tickets to the game.
