
Crawdads and Intimidators split double header

The Hickory Crawdads and Kannapolis Intimidators split two games at L.P. Frans Stadium Monday night. The I's took the first game 8-1, while Hickory won the nightcap 2-1 in eight innings.
Hickory RF Brad Corley singled home CF Andrew McCutchen from second base with nobody out in the eighth to give Hickory the double-dip split. McCutchen led off the inning with a single off of Kannapolis reliever Paul Moviel. Crawdad 1B Mike McCuistion followed by drawing a walk on four pitches. After Moviel threw a first pitch ball to Corley, he was relieved because of injury by Oneli Perez. On a two-two pitch Corley singled up the middle for the game winner.
The âDads took a 1-0 lead in game two on SS Brent Lillibridge's solo homer in the fifth inning. Kannapolis tied the game on SS Javier Castillo's RBI single plating RF Anderson Gomes in the sixth.
Derrik Moeves (1-2) earned the game two win with two innings of scoreless relief. Moviel (0-2) took the loss allowing one run in one inning. Luis Munoz started and went six innings of four hit, one run ball for Hickory. . The first game was all Kannapolis. The Intimidators got a complete game (seven innings), three hitter from Ricky Brooks and scored two runs in the first, two in the second, one in the fourth and three in the sixth en route to an 8-1 victory
The I's got homers from catcher Francisco Hernandez and RF Anderson Gomes in the sixth inning. Gomes went two for three, and every member of the Kannapolis lineup had either a hit or run scored with seven of nine members recording at least one of each.
Brooks (5-5) allowed one run on three hits while walking four and striking out three in the win. Crawdad starter Blair Johnson (1-2) allowed five runs (three earned) on seven hits in three and two-third innings in the loss.
The two teams play at Deal Stadium in Granite Falls at 5pm Tuesday night. Hickory right hander Todd Redmond meets Kannapolis righty Rafael Flores.
