Coyotes' Woes Continues

ALEXANDRIA, Louisiana- The Edinburg Coyotes fell short of snapping their four game losing streak as they go down 8-7 against the Alexandria Aces.

Toro Trevino made his debut for the Coyotes going six and two-thirds innings allowing five runs on 11 hits and striking out six. He would not factor into the decision. The Coyotes got on the score board first in the second inning when Eric Gonzalez hit his fourth home run of the season to deep left field to put the Coyotes up 1-0.

The Aces answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the second inning when Palmer Karr Jr. started the inning off with a base hit. Karr Jr. came around to score on an RBI triple by Bryan Sabatella to tie the game at 1-1.

Albert Gonzalez started the bottom of the third inning with a leadoff double and later came around to score on Patrick O'Sullivan's RBI single to push the score 2-1. The Aces added another run on an RBI single by Luis Guance to put the score at 3-1. In the sixth inning the Coyotes' offense tied the game at three with two hits and two walks. Gonzalez started the inning with a walk then moved to second base on a ground out by Jason Arrowood. Amado German then doubled to left center to score Gonzalez to put the score at 3-2. German came around to score on Gary Roche's RBI single to tie the game at 3-3.

The Aces again answered with a run in the bottom half of the sixth and seventh innings. Eddie Fitzpatrick had an RBI single to bring in Sabatella from second to take the lead once again 4-3. Then Blake Butler started the seventh inning with a single and later came around to score on a wild pitch by Trevino to add to the score 5-3. The Coyotes' bats came alive in the eighth inning as they scored four runs on four hits. Angelo Fermin had an RBI double to left field to score German from third base for the first run of the inning. Then Roche singled in two more runs with a single to left field to put the score at 6-5. The Coyotes added another run as Daryl Jones lined an RBI single to left field and gave the Coyotes a 7-5 lead.

The back end of the bullpen could not hold the lead as the Aces scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning off of Adam Clay, who got his second loss of the season. The Aces scored the three runs on three hits but an error gave the Aces the lead for good.

Charlie Foster pitched two-thirds of an inning for his second win of the season and Juan Carlos Ovalles pitched the ninth inning for the save.

The Coyotes and Aces will play the second game of the three game series Friday night at Bringhurst Field with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
