
Broncos Blown Out By Dillas in Amarillo

Amarillo, TX-The Laredo Broncos did not bring their "A" game against the Amarillo Dillas as they fell by a score of 20-5 on Thursday night at the Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa. The Broncos continue on their 6 game trip when they take on the Amarillo Dillas on Friday night in game 2 of a 3 game series. For more information you can call (956)-723-BASE (2273).
The Broncos got the scoring going in the top of the 1st inning. For the 2nd time in the last 3 games Dwayne White led off with a solo home run, giving Laredo and starter John Odom and early 1-0 lead.
That lead would not last long for the Broncos as the Dillas struck back in their half of the 1st. Jonathan Reynoso led off with a double and then scored on a one out single by Gary Schneidmiller. Schneidmiller would then advanced to 2nd on a passed ball by catcher Jose Salas. Then Danny Bravo hit a groundball to Matt Lawman who had the ball go through his legs allowing Schneidmiller to score and giving Amarillo a 2-1 lead.
The Dillas would add on some more runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning. Gary Schneidmiller led off the inning with a double. Danny Bravo would then hit a ball right to Arnoldo Ponce who booted the ball allowing Schneidmiller to score from 2nd base. Then AJ Johnson would be hit by a pitch putting runners on 1st and 2nd. On a strikeout by Andrew Wong, Bravo would steal 3rd base while Johnson stole 2nd. Justin Wenger would then hit a ground out scoring Bravo and moving Johnson to 3rd. Stephen Douglas would then single scoring Johnson from 3rd and giving Amarillo a 5-1 lead.
Laredo would get one run closer in the top of the 4th inning. Edgard Clemente singled to lead off the inning and then with 2 outs Ivan Reyes doubled knocking in Clemente to make the score 5-2.
Amarillo would blow the game open in the bottom of the 4th inning. After one out Broncos starter John Odom walked Keith Brachold, Gary Schneidmiller, and Danny Bravo. Julian Williams would then come in and relieve Odom. AJ Johnson would hit a sacrifice fly scoring Brachold from 3rd base. Andrew Wong would then double knockin in both Schneidmiller and Bravo. Justin Wenger would then hit a bloop single scoring Wong and giving the Dillas a 9-2 lead.
Laredo starter John Odom went 3 1/3 innings giving up 8 runs 4 of which were earned. He gave up 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 5.
The Dillas were not done scoring, as they added more runs in the bottom of the 5th inning. Josh Ashton led off the inning with a single. Jonathan Reynoso would then single as well putting runners on the corners. Keith Brachold would single scoring Ashton and moving Reynoso to 3rd base. Gary Schneidmiller would then single scoring Reynoso and moving Brachold to 3rd. Newly signed pitcher David Wasylak would then come in and give up a sacrifice fly to AJ Johnson scoring Brachold and making the score 12-2.
Amarillo would get a few more runs in the bottom of the 6th inning. Justin Wenger led off with a single and moved to 2nd on a ground out. Josh Ashton would then single scoring Wenger from 2nd base. Jonathan Reynoso would then double knocking in Ashton and making the score 14-2.
Laredo would get 1 more run in the top of the 7th. Matt Lawman led off with a single and with 2 outs went to 3rd on a double by Arnoldo Ponce. Marcos Castillo would then throw a wild pitch scoring Lawman making the score 14-3.
The Dillas would tack on more runs in the bottom of the 7th inning against reliever David Wasylak. Wasylak would hit the first two men he faced in AJ Johnson and Andrew Wong. He would then give up a single to Justin Wenger load the bases. That would be it for him as Justin Staat would then come in. Staat would walk Stephen Douglas to score AJ Johnson. Then after a strikeout Sam Mclain hit a pinch hit single scoring Wong. Keith Brachold would then walk scoring Wenger. Danny Bravo would then single in Douglas making the score 18-3.
Laredo would score 1 in the top of the 8th inning. With two outs Santiago Guerrero would double and then score when Ivan Reyes reached on a throwing error by 3rd baseman Gary Schneidmiller. That would make the score 18-4 Dillas with the lead.
The Dillas would add 2 more runs in the bottom of the 8th inning giving them a 20-4 lead. The Broncos would get 1 run in the 9th inning. Dwayne White led off with a double, went to 3rd on a wild pitch and scored on a ground out by Luany Sanchez. That would be it as the final score would be Amarillo 20 and the Broncos 5.
The Broncos had 5 runs on 14 hits and 3errors, while the Dillas had 20 runs on 21 hits and 2 errors.
The Broncos fall now to 12-10 on the season. The Broncos will be back in action on Friday night in Amarillo to play the middle game of a 3 game set against the Dillas at 7:05.
