Edinburg Roadrunners News Release

Edinburg, TX; August 7, 2007-In a battle that lasted over four hours the Edinburg Coyotes topped the Laredo Broncos 7-6 in 11 innings of play Tuesday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. Edinburg used seven of their ten pitchers in the contest to overcome Laredo and their late offensive attack.

Edinburg was first on the board in the second inning notching two runs starting with a Rodney Medina double to left, followed by Alexis Hernandez with a single. Medina would later score on a wild pitch by Laredo pitcher Benny Cepeda. Luis Espinosa follwed with an RBI groundout to short stop that would score Hernandez ending the inning.

Laredo posted one run in the fifth, as did the Coyotes, but it was the top of the sixth that would nearly burn the Coyotes. After allowing only one run on three hits, walking four and striking out nine Laredo Broncos, starting pitcher for Edinburg Carlos Jan was replaced in the top of the sixth for Bryan Heaston, which seemed to prove a nearly fatal move by field manager Vince Moore. In his 2/3 of work, Heaston gave up five runs on six hits while striking out no batters and walking two including walking in one of the five runs scored in the inning, giving the Broncos the edge 6-3. Andy Noonan was called to finish the inning, striking out Hector Lebron for the last out.

Edinburg posted one run in the sixth and two more in the eighth to tie things up 6-6. Neither team would score in the ninth sending the game into extra innings. Luckily for Edinburg it was them who would come out with the win after Nick Aranda doubled, with Patrick Gaylord hitting a single to score Aranda and capture the win for the Coyotes 7-6.

Next up Edinburg will face the Laredo Broncos once again Wednesday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. It is Bark at the Park night, where everyone is invited to bring their dogs as long as they are on a leash. Game time set for 7:05 p.m.
