
Coyotes Look to Sweep Lightning, Continue Winning Streak

(Fresno, CA) - Central Valley Coyotes (11-4) are set to take their six game winning streak and 6-1 road record to Stockton to play Stockton Lightning (5-10) for the third and final time this season. This is the final regular season game for both teams, however the Coyotes move forward to play in their first ever playoff game Friday, August 4, 8:00pm at Selland Arena. The Coyotes have won the first two meetings 63-61 on May 13th and 58-46 on July 8th, and are looking for a series sweep.
The Coyotes have seen their most successful season in its short history. They have reached their best record (11-4), reached the playoffs with a first round home field advantage game, and are on a franchise best six game winning streak. The Lightning's first season started with high hopes but has ended with disappointments. They were knocked out of playoff contention last week when the Bakersfield Blitz handily beat them 72-51. With the win the Blitz secured the final National Conference playoff spot and will face the Coyotes in round 1.
In the teams last meeting at Selland Arena in Fresno, California on July 8th the Coyotes put up 30 fourth quarter points to beat the Lightning, and secured the Coyotes first ever playoff appearance. The Coyotes Scott Rislov lit up the Lightning secondary for 7 of his league leading 98 touchdown passes. Rislov is set to eclipse the af2 league touchdown passing record of 99 and is chasing the Arena Football (both AFL and af2) record of 105. The af2 record was set my Matt Sauk, of Louisville, in 2005 and the AFL mark was set by Clint Dolezel of the Dallas Desperado's this past season.
The Coyotes last game saw them beat the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz 60-42. The win secured home filed advantage in the first round of National Conference 2006 playoffs for the Coyotes and we Rislov's best game thus far this season. He threw for 355 yards and 8 touchdowns and was awarded the "Schutt Offensive Player of the Week" for his efforts.
