Central Valley Coyotes News Release
(Fresno, CA) â The Central Valley Coyotes of the arenafootball2 league announced today that current head coach Cree Morris has resigned from his position effective Tuesday, June 8 in order to pursue other opportunities. The move will promote current offensive coordinator Fred Biletnikoff Jr. to interim head coach for the remainder of Central Valley's 2004 season, pending league approval.
"On behalf of the organization and the Tachi-Yokut tribe, I would like to thank Cree for all his hard work and efforts he has put into this organization," said General Manager Kevin Thomas. "He was very instrumental in bringing the excitement of arena football back to Fresno. We wish him nothing but the best of the luck in his future endeavors."
New Coyotes interim head coach Fred Biletnikoff Jr. will become the third head coach in Central Valley's 3-year history.
Biletnikoff Jr. began his second season in the af2, having joined the Coyotes in January as assistant head coach and offensive coordinator. His first stint with an arenafootball2 team was in 2002 with the Fresno Frenzy, where he served as an offensive assistant. Along with his Coyotes responsibilities, Biletnikoff Jr. will also continue to serve as offensive coordinator and running backs coach for the Fresno City Rams, where he has been since 2000.
Before joining the Rams staff at Fresno City College, Biletnikoff spent two seasons (â91-â92) at Alameda High School coaching wide receivers and defensive backs. In 1993 he joined the football staff at Chabot College with current Coyotes defensive Coordinator Doug Murray, where he coached running backs, wide receivers and was also offensive coordinator.
"I'm excited and honored at the same time to be the next head coach of the Central Valley Coyotes," said Biletnikoff Jr. "I'm going to do the best job I can do in leading these men into battle on Saturday nights. I believe we have an excellent support staff in our assistant coaches and we have all the support from the front office as well. We have a good team over here in Central Valley, we just have to generate that into wins."
