Edinburg Roadrunners News Release

EDINBURG, TX- The Edinburg Coyotes (8-12) suffered their first series sweep after losing 11-0 to the San Angelo Colts (11-10) Wednesday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. The Coyotes have now lost four straight games.

Bryan Heaston (1-2) got his first start of the season but did not have the best of outings as he gave up seven runs on nine hits through three innings.

Colts starting pitcher Luke Massetti (2-0) pitched a superb game after throwing a no-hitter through five complete innings. Nick Aranda spoiled the no-hitter for Massetti after he singled to right field in the bottom of the sixth. However, Massetti pitched a shutout striking out six and giving up only one hit throughout the game.

The Colts jumped on the boards early as Andres Rodriguez hit a two-run homer over the left field fence to give them a two run lead. Benny Craig then singled to right and advanced to third on a double from Aaron Cone. He then scored on an RBI single from Jose Torres to give the Colts a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

The Colts struck again in the next inning after scoring three more runs on two hits to push the lead to 6-0. Charlie Belew, Tyrone Pendergrass and John Anderson all came into score during the inning. After the second inning, the Colts already had mustered up seven hits.

With a comfortable lead going into the third, the Colts stretched the lead to eight after Charley Belew hit into a double play but brought in Cone from third.

The Colts' lead ballooned in the sixth after they were able to put up four runs on four hits to push the lead to 11.

The Coyotes will travel to Alexandria to take on the Aces in a three-game series and will come back to town on Sunday to take on the Amarillo Dillas in a three-game series.
