Edinburg Roadrunners News Release
EDINBURG, TX- The Edinburg Coyotes (8-11) are in the midst of three-game losing streak after losing 4-2 Tuesday night to the San Angelo Colts (10-10) Tuesday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. Eric Montoya (2-1) pitched a great game going eight solid innings in which he allowed four runs on 10 hits. But his team's offense could not pull through for him as he gets his first loss of the season. Brandon Kling (1-0) picked up his first win for the Colts and Brian Daly picked up his fourth save of the season.
The Coyotes were able to put up the first run of the game as Angelo Fermin scored from third on a RBI single from Logan Wood to give them a 1-0 lead.
In the second inning, Colts' third baseman Jason Crosland hit a lead-off single to right field. He then reached third on a single from Jose Torres and scored on an error from the pitcher to tie the game at one.
The Colts struck again in the third after back-to-back singles from Brian Frichter and Andres Rodriguez to put runners on first and second. Frichter advanced to third and Rodriguez advanced to second on a ground out from Benny Craig. Both runners scored on a two run RBI single from Aaron Cone to stretch the lead to two.
Colts put up another run in the top of the seventh after John Anderson hit an RBI single to bring Tyrone Pendergrass from third. Coyotes managed to put up a run of their own in the bottom of the frame when Gary Roche grounded out to the short stop to bring in Nick Aranda from third.
The Coyotes and Colts will play again tomorrow night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. First pitch is at 7:05. It is "Buyout Night" sponsored by the Echo Hotel meaning free admission for all. Bryan Heaston (1-1) is expected to start for the Coyotes and Luke Massetti (1-0) will take the mound for the Colts
