The Saginaw Spirit would like to congratulate forward Ryan McDonough and defenseman Matt Corrente for being named the Covenant HealthCare Players of the Week. The two were awarded the honor for their efforts in the three games this past weekend.
Ryan McDonough notched 2 goals and 3 assists this past weekend. The Toronto, ON native was also +2 and had accumulated 2 PIM. In the 25 games played this season McDonough has earned 14 goals, 10 assists, a +3 and 12 PIM. He played in the World U-18 Championship for Team Canada during the summer of 2006.
Matt Corrente earned defensive honors for this past weekend. He notched his first goal of the season on Thursday (Nov. 22, 2006), was +3, and carried 2 PIM. The native of Mississauga, ON has 1 goal, 12 assists, is +16 and has 49 PIM since the start of the season. Corrente was selected by the New Jersey Devils in the first round (30th overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft and participated with Team Canada in the World U-18 Championship during the summer of 2006.
