ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign (26-12-2-4), four-time Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's 2014 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings and Winnipeg Jets, defeated the Idaho Steelheads (27-14-1-3) by a 4-1 score in front of a sellout crowd of 9,395 on Saturday evening at Citizens Business Bank Arena.

Both teams played to a scoreless first period, with Joe Cannata and Olivier Roy each turning aside several chances.

A late first period power-play for Ontario carried over into the second period, and the Reign capitalized when Dennis Brown received a feed from Robert Czarnik, and fluttered the puck from the right point into the net past Roy at 1:16 for his first professional goal. During the play, Roy suffered an injury and had to be helped off the ice, resulting in Henri Kiviaho taking over in goal for Idaho.

Ontario made it 2-0 when Czarnik snuck behind a defender on a rush after taking a pass from Rocco Carzo, and roofed a backhand shot past Kiviaho at 3:31.

Later in the period Everett Sheen worked the puck loose along the end boards behind the Idaho net to Derek Couture. Couture made his way around the cage and slid his wrap-around attempt underneath Kiviaho at 15:51 for his 84th career goal in a Reign uniform, passing Kyle Kraemer for sole possession of the club all-time goals mark.

In the third period, the Reign nearly converted again on the power-play when Brown unleashed a shot from the blueline that glanced off the shoulder of Kiviaho and settled on top of the goal line for a few seconds before the goaltender covered it up.

The Steelheads countered with a shorthanded tally when Taylor Peters sprung Colton Beck, whose initial shot was stopped by Cannata, but Beck followed his rebound and buried it at 10:54 to get the visitors on the board.

Ontario regained the three-goal edge when Judd Blackwater sealed the win with an empty-net goal at 18:43.

Cannata picked up the win with 25 saves; Kiviaho took the loss with 12 stops, while Roy made seven saves.
