Countdown to Face-Off

For the second straight contest, the Kalamazoo Wings will face-off against a possible first round playoff opponent as they tangle with the Fort Wayne Komets. On the season, the K-Wings are 8-6-1-0 versus the defending Turner Cup champions.

Winners of three straight, the K-Wings have pulled to within a single point of the third place Muskegon Lumberjacks. After concluding the home portion of their schedule tonight, the K-Wings will conclude the regular season tomorrow evening in Muskegon.

On the verge of clinching their second straight Huber Trophy, Fort Wayne needs one more point to secure the top regular season record in the IHL. On a 10-game winning streak and a 17-game unbeaten streak, the Komets will conclude the regular season tomorrow at home versus the Bloomington PrairieThunder.

The Bus is Back

After being the garage for the past 19 games due to injury, forward Mark Nebus will return to the K-Wings lineup. Nebus last played on February 28th versus Fort Wayne and has earned points in his last two games played.

An Awarding Week

This week was an awarding one for two members of the K-Wings. On Tuesday, forward Anthony Battaglia received the IHL's Most Sportsmanlike Player Award, while forward Rick Cleaver was named the league's Aquafina Rookie of the Year on Wednesday.

A"Tila" the Hun

Rookie forward Trent Daavettila is currently on the three-game point streak. Daavettila started the streak last Saturday versus Bloomington by recording his first two-goal game of his pro-career, which included his first game-winner.

The K-Wings return home to Wings Stadium tonight looking to extend a three-game winning streak. In fact, the K-Wings are playing some of their best hockey of the season going 8-1-1-0 in their last 10 games.
