Kalamazoo Wings News Release

For the second night in a row, the Kalamazoo Wings will face-off against the Elmira Jackals. Kalamazoo dominated last night's affair, exploding for five third period goals en route to a 9-3 victory. On the season, Kalamazoo is 4-0-0 against Elmira and leads the all-time series with a record of 15-7-1.

A solid team effort last night helped extend the K-Wings home winning streak to a season high four games. Kalamazoo has dominated at home going 6-0-2 in their last eight games and out scoring their opponents 38-18 during the stretch.

Dropping the first two legs of a four-game road trip by a combined score of 16-7, Elmira looks to salvage a split against Kalamazoo. The Jackals, who are just 1-4 in their last five games, are also tying to end a three-game losing streak.

Scoring in Bunches

Last night's third period was a memorable one for Kalamazoo. Forward Mark Versteeg-Lytwyn scored three of the K-Wings five goals in the third period to help the K-Wings to a 9-3 win over Elmira. The five goal outburst was a period season high for Kalamazoo, while the nine goals in the game tied a K-Wings' season high. The hat trick by Versteeg-Lytwyn was the first in his pro career.

Nearing a Dozen

Kory Karlander continued to scorch the opposition by recording a goal and assist in last night's contest against Elmira. The points extended both his point and goal streaks to 11 games. The 11-game streaks are both season high for the K-Wings. Besides a K-Wings' season high, the goal streak is also a league high.

Home Sweet Home

There is no place like home for the Kalamazoo Wings. The K-Wings have won four straight games and are undefeated in regulation in their last eight games (6-0-2) at Wings Stadium.

Scoring in the Clutch

Last night Captain Nick Bootland recorded the game-winning goal and in the process tied two K-Wings' records. The game-winner tied Bootland for both the K-Wings' UHL franchise record for most in a single season (6) and most in a K-Wings UHL career (11).
