PrairieThunder loses to Chicago

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Matt Amado's goal with 1:51 remaining in the third period gave the Chicago Hounds a 3-2 Western Conference victory over the Bloomington PrairieThunder before a U.S. Cellular Coliseum and franchise record crowd of 5,488 people Saturday night.

Amado' goal was assisted by Drew Otten and helped drop the PrairieThunder record to 12-30-2. The victory moved Chicago's record to 15-25-1 in the United Hockey League.

Bloomington took a 1-0 lead in the first period on a power play goal by Greg Koehler, who was obtained in a trade with Chicago earlier this week. Jon Booras had the assist 7:09 into the game.

The Hounds tied the game with 55 seconds remaining in the period on a 5-on-3 power play goal by Tom Zabkowicz. Rod Aldoff and Steve Cygan had assists. Chicago took a 2-1 lead with six minutes remaining in the second period on another 5-on-3 power play goal by Paul Caponigri with assists from Amado and Zabkowicz.

Bloomington tied the game with 7:47 remaining in the game on a power play goal by John Spoltore with assists from Ryan Gillis and Andrew Lackner. The PrairieThunder was 2 for 10 on power plays with 26 shots on goal.

Chicago was 2 of 8 on power plays with 29 shots on goal. The PrairieThunder returns to action Friday at Elmira, N.Y.
