Rockford IceHogs News Release

Flint, Mich.- Every good streak must come to an end. That was the case for the Rockford IceHogs on Saturday night as they fell 5-3 to the Flint Generals at the Perani's Arena and Events Center ending its season long eight-game unbeaten streak and four-game winning streak. Rockford played the majority of the game with just 13 position players and couldn't wipe out four unanswered goals from the Generals.

Hogs center Preston Mizzi stayed hot as he put Rockford on the board in the opening frame. Mizzi rifled a shot past Bryan Worosz at 7:16 for his 17th marker of the season. Just over a minute later, at 8:28, Kevin Ulanski gave Rockford the 2-0 lead when he beat Worosz five-hole. Flint got a goal back at 16:48 to cut the Hogs in half when center Jason Selleke's centering pass deflected past Hogs goalie Frederic Cloutier.

Winger Chaz Johnson gave Rockford a two-goal advantage at 2:41 of the second period after he snapped home his 13th goal of the campaign. The Generals, however, came storming back to take the lead. Center Shawn Snider started the comeback at 4:21 when he deflected in a perfect set-up pass from Jeff Zehr.

Later in the frame, after a five-minute fighting major was called on Robin Big Snake and with Johnson out with an injury, Flint capitalized at 7:56. Center Terry Marchant tied the tilt on the power play after Jeff Cameron's point blast was blocked by Hogs d-man Matt Gens, right to Marchant, who proceeded to bury his 14th goal of the season. Flint then grabbed the lead when winger Bobby Reynolds netted a short-handed goal at 10:31, putting them on top 4-3.

The Generals sealed the game in the third period when Mike Kinnie completed a 2-on-1 breakaway with Reynolds for his 12th goal of the season, and fifth against Rockford, at 14:44. The went scoreless on the power play, going 0-for-7 while the Generals went 1-for-8. Rockford outshot Flint 32-21 in the loss.
