Kalamazoo Wings News Release

The K-Wings and the Flint Generals will lace up their skates tonight in the second of four meetings between the teams this season. Tonight is also the start of a home and home series between the teams; the second half of the home and home will be played tomorrow night at Wings Stadium. In their UHL history, Flint has dominated Kalamazoo, as the K-Wings are just 9-20-2 against their intra-state rivals, and 2-11-2 against Flint in their last 15 games. This season, the K-Wings are 0-0-1 against Flint, as Kalamazoo lost 4-3 in a shootout to the Generals at Wings Stadium.

The K-Wings enter the game in fourth place in the Western Conference. This will be Kalamazoo's first game since all-star break. Kalamazoo is looking to build on the momentum they obtained before heading into the all-star game, as the K-Wings defeated Richmond 4-1 at Wings Stadium last Saturday night. The K-Wings are lead by Jeff Turner, Nick Bootland and Chad Alban. Turner leads the K-Wings in goals scored with 24. Bootland leads the K-Wings in points scored with 40, while Alban is second in the UHL among active players with a GAA of 2.51.

Flint currently sits atop the Eastern Conference with a record of 21-15-3. The Generals are led by Bobby Reynolds and Jim Duhart. Reynolds leads the Generals in points with 28, while Duhart has registered at least a point in 11 of his last 13 games. Flint is a team that likes to take chances. The Generals lead the UHL in shorthanded goals with 14.

The Mad Hatter

Jeff Turner netted his second and the K-Wings second hat trick of the season last Saturday against Richmond. The hat trick was the 19th in the K-Wings UHL history. Turner also leads the K-Wings with 24 goals. In his last 11 games, Turner has scored 11 goals and added 3 assists.

Not Your Average Joe

Joe Ritson has had no problem producing since coming to Kalamazoo. Ritson starts the week on a five game scoring streak. Joe also recorded his 100th career assist over the weekend during K-Wings 4-1 victory over Richmond.

It Doesn't Happen Often

In their 14 games this year, the K-Wings have only been out shot by their opponents in 3 of those games. Being out shot isn't a bad thing for Kalamazoo, as the K-Wings are 2-1-0 in games they are out shot by their opponents.

Nearing Milestones

Two K-Wings players enter the week close to reaching personal milestones. Both Marty Flichel and Andrew Luciuk need just one more assist to reach 200 for his career.

The Obscure Stat of the Week

So far through 34 games, both Jeff and Tim Turner have scored in the same game four times. When both Turner's have scored in the same game, the K-Wings are undefeated with a record of 4-0-0.
